Thank you for your interest in the Distance Ed Category 1 Course – Addressing Chronic Pain & Related Disabling Symptoms: An Integrative East-West Approach.

This course is a video recording of the UCLA Center for East-West Medicine's conference on Chronic Pain at Tamkin Auditorium, Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in February 2023. It aims to demonstrate the Center's integrative approach, which combines western medicine, traditional Chinese medicine and patient education on lifestyle change and self-care modalities, to address patients with chronic pain and other disabling symptoms.


Through interactive case-based teaching activities, this course aims to review the East-West approach for simple cases from myofascial neck, shoulder, lower back and orofacial pain to complex cases of fibromyalgia, autoimmune diseases and severe lower back pain requiring procedural intervention.

This course relates to the scope of practice of acupuncture in California as it discusses health problems commonly seen by acupuncturists and demonstrates how they are addressed in an inter-professional setting. 

This course has been approved by the California Acupuncture Board for 6.5 hours of continuing education. Provider Number 1130.
