Hello and thank you for your interest in our research study at UCLA.

In this study, we will use brain imaging, specifically Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), to look for similarities and differences in the way people with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder and people without a schizophrenia-spectrum disorder process social information.

We are recruiting both individuals with a diagnosis of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder and individuals without a schizophrenia-spectrum diagnosis for this study.

If you are eligible and choose to enroll in the study, you will be asked to participate in the following activities over the course of one or two visits that will be conducted on Zoom or on the UCLA campus:
(all times are approximate)

•     Screening, setup, questionnaires, etc. (30 mins)
•     Clinical and non-clinical interviews (3.5 hrs)
•     Cognitive and decision-making tests (1.5 hrs)
•     An MRI scan (90 mins, plus 30 min setup)

If you participate, we will compensate you at the rate of $25/hr, and most participants will take part in about 7.5 hours of study activities. Participants will also be reimbursed for out-of-pocket parking or transportation costs related to the study visits, or we can help arrange transportation to UCLA if you need it.

The MRI scan will take place at the UCLA Center for Cognitive Neuroscience. During the scan, participants will need to remain still in a small, partially enclosed space.
