Leadership for Latinx Serving Business, Professional, and Healthcare Organizations
Vision: The growing US Latino GDP — driven by the Latino Healthy Lifestyle Advantage — providing the competitive edge to the nation’s GDP so that it maintains its pre-eminence
among the world’s economies throughout the 21st century.
Purpose: Turning personal lived experience into knowledge and skills for leadership in Latino-serving business, professional and healthcare organizations by catalyzing:
-
Vision through an understanding of the US Latino GDP and the Latino Healthy Lifestyle Advantage;
-
Voice through an understanding of the Latino Double Impostor Syndrome and Latino Confusion about US Race Categories.
Learning Objectives
At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:
- Cultivate their sense of narrative self by examining and drawing power from their lived experience of the Latinx Double Impostor Syndrome (i.e. being told that one is too Latinx ever to be American, but when in Latinx space, being told one is too American to be an “authentic” Latinx).
- Describe why Latinx are confused about the US racial narrative.
- Use the Latinx Epidemiological Paradox and Latino Healthy Lifestyle Advantage to create a positive narrative about Latinx interaction with the US healthcare system.
- Use the US Latinx Gross Domestic Product to develop a positive narrative about Latinx contributions to the US economy and society.
- Create a professional community of deepened and cohesive narrative as diverse professionals
- Identify a personal path to executive-level positions, election to board governance, and appointment to critically impactful boards and commissions.
- Play leading roles by using their voice in the construction of a shared narrative for the multicultural, multiracial society of 21st century California and beyond.
